Subscription

When a user is subscribed to a forum it means that they will receive a notification (via popup and/or email, depending on the user’s messaging settings preferences) of each new post or reply. By default, posts are recorded about 30 minutes after they were written or edited.

Depending on your email settings, you may be sent an email immediately after the 30-minute edit window is closed, or in a daily digest instead. Students can usually choose whether or not they want to be subscribed to each forum. Instructors can choose to force a subscription to a particular forum, which will automatically subscribe all learners in the course.
